Helmholtz Zentrum München (HMGU) has a long tradition of contributing to EU programmes
in the life sciences. Resources of the centre that will be made available to the contract
include the Proteomics Core Facility, Metabolomics Platform, Genome Analysis Centre and
the German Mouse Clinic.
The Institute of Radiation Biology, directed by Prof. Michael Atkinson, involved in the
CEREBRAD project, is member of current/recent EURATOM contracts: DoReMi (WP
leadership Atkinson), CARDIORISK (WP leadership Tapio), STORE (WP leadership Tapio).
Methods and facilities available to the consortium are Cs-137 radiation source for cells, free
flow electrophoresis, microRNA transcriptomic profiling and Proteomics Core Facility with
following instrumentation: nanoHPLC; MS (OrbiTrap XL, Q-TRAP 4000 and MALDI-TOFTOF
technology, MALDI-Imaging). This state of the art equipment will speed throughput and
enhance the number of proteins detectable and will be made available to the CEREBRAD
consortium, thereby increasing the power of the analyses.
